Abstract

Background: Childhood diseases are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and understanding the level of awareness and behavior patterns can contribute to effective preventive strategies.

Objective: The objective of this study is to assess the level Knowledge of mother regarding the immunization, assess the attitudes towards preventive measures, and explore the practices adopted by mothers to reduce burden of disease among 5 year of children.

Method: A cross-sectional study design was employed to collect data from a sample size of 140 individuals. The participants were selected in the community of Galwehra village. The data was collected by structured questionnaire.

Results: The findings revealed that the overall knowledge about immunization was moderate, with a significant knowledge gap regarding reason of vaccine and is it cause harmful effects. Attitudes towards preventive measures varied, with some mothers displaying a proactive approach, while others showed a lack of motivation. The practice of adopting a complete schedule of immunization program to provide a defense against the pathogens to there children was not significant. With Cronbach's alpha value of .772 among 13 items.

Conclusion: The study highlights the need for targeted interventions to improve knowledge and promote positive attitudes among mothers regarding the immunization of children under 5 years. By addressing the identified knowledge gaps and encouraging mothers to adopt healthier practices, the burden of diseases can be reduced.
