Use cosmetics are predominant throughout the human history. Cosmetics have persistently made a distinct expression as civilization progressed. Cosmetics have always been adored by both males and females. Cosmetics are items that applied to body parts for multiple purposes such as anti-aging and attraction. Cosmetics are different items contain natural or synthetic ingredients. The cosmetics industry has rapidly expanded its focus on natural and herbal products in recent years. Cosmetic chemistry is the active components containing product applied for therapeutic purposes and show effective results on the dermal part of body. The negative effects of cosmetics are mostly immediate reactions, like contact dermatitis (allergic reactions and burning), photo toxicity and photo allergic reactions, contact urticaria, hives, chest infection and hyperpigmentation. Excessive use of cosmetic products can disrupt endocrine system. The negative and adverse effects of heavy metal contamination in cosmetics cannot be ignored. It represents a wide range of strange and unique active compounds with the ability to create cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Alginate and different seaweeds found in cosmetics is utilized to produce creams, gels, hair sprays, dyes, toothpaste, lotions, and lipsticks. Nano cosmeceuticals have been widely used to create various anti-oxidant and anti-aging formulations. Different organizations in countries should have a check and balance on preparation of cosmetics and for this different rules and regulations were made. There is need for safe use of cosmetics and rules must be defined for it.
