Abstract

Ramadan is one of the fundamental pillars of Islam, providing a comprehensive system of spiritual, moral, and educational instruction. Extensive research in modern medical and biological sciences has shown that the effects of daily fasting cause numerous physiological, metabolic, and biochemical changes in the human body. Fasting results in significant changes in energy levels, glucose, hormones, metabolism, energy utilization, and cellular functions. Islamic teachings describe fasting as a means of piety, self-discipline, and spiritual reformation, while modern scientific research has shown that fasting has numerous medical benefits. The aim of this research paper is to present an analytical review of the physiological, metabolic and biochemical effects of Ramadan fasting in the light of the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah and contemporary scientific evidence. The paper clarifies that Islamic worship, especially fasting, is not only a means of spiritual evolution but also plays an important role in promoting human health.
